Terms of use

1. Who we are

DistillNote is run by Alexander Wöllner, Baumbachstraße 15, 81245 München, Germany (“we”, “us”). Email: [email protected]. When you use distillnote.com or buy a plan, your agreement for using DistillNote is with Alexander Wöllner. Full details are in the Impressum.

2. What DistillNote is

DistillNote collects what other sources say about the classes and specs of World of Warcraft: Forever (tier lists, sims, talents, the beta census and Blizzard's posts) and shows them side by side, with our own recommendations.

• Game data changes often during the beta and after. Every fact shows where it comes from and when we read it, but it can be wrong or out of date. Check important things in the game.
• Rankings, picks, builds and guides marked as ours are recommendations, not promises about how you will play or perform.

3. Accounts

You can use the site without an account. To vote or to use a paid plan, you sign in with Discord, Google or a link sent to your email address.

• One account per person. Keep access to your sign-in methods to yourself.
• You can delete your account at any time on your Account page. If you have a running plan, deleting the account ends the plan at once: no further payment is taken, and the plan's features end with the account. Before you confirm, we show you the date your plan would run until, so you can cancel the plan instead and keep it until then. A refund within 14 days of a payment stays possible (see Refunds).

4. Fair use

Please don't:

• use the site for anything unlawful, for fraud or for spam;
• copy the site or its data in bulk, by scraping or other automated means beyond normal browsing, or resell it;
• try to break into the site, test its security without our permission, spread malware or overload the site;
• manipulate votes, for example with several accounts or scripts;
• use someone else's content in a way that infringes their rights.

Sharing links to our pages and to builds made with our calculator is welcome.

5. Paid plans

Our plans and their prices are on the Pricing page. Prices include VAT.

• Paddle sells our plans. Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. When you buy a plan, you also accept Paddle's buyer terms, which Paddle shows at checkout.
• Renewal. A plan renews automatically for the same period, a month or a year, until you cancel it. Paddle charges the payment method you chose.
• Cancelling. You can cancel at any time: on your Account page, through the link in Paddle's receipt email, or at paddle.net. The plan then ends at the end of the period you've paid for, you keep its features until then, and you aren't charged again.
• Refunds. You can get a full refund within 14 days of any payment. Our Refunds page says how. Your statutory rights as a consumer, including the right of withdrawal, aren't affected.
• Price changes. If a price changes, we or Paddle tell you before your next renewal. The new price applies only from that renewal, and you can cancel before it.
• Features. A plan gives you the features listed for it on the Pricing page when you buy or renew. We keep improving the site. If we remove a main feature of your plan during a period you've paid for, you can ask for a refund of the unused part.

6. Our content

The texts, rankings, recommendations, talent icons, design and code of DistillNote are ours, except where we say otherwise. Ratings from other sites stay theirs: we show each one as the site gives it and link to the site on our Sources page. Data we use under an open licence is credited there too. Game names and game facts belong to Blizzard Entertainment.

7. Availability

We work to keep the site up and correct, but we can't promise that it's always available or free of errors. We may change, add or remove free features at any time.

8. Suspending or closing an account

We may suspend or close an account if it breaks these terms in a serious way or again after a warning, if a payment fails and isn't made good, or to protect the site or other people from fraud or a security risk. If we close an account with a running plan for a reason that isn't your fault, you get a refund of the unused part.

9. Liability

We're liable without limit for damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and under the German Product Liability Act. For slight negligence, we're liable only if we breach an obligation that is essential for this agreement (one that makes using the site possible at all and that you may rely on), and only for the damage that is typical and foreseeable for an agreement like this one. Otherwise we aren't liable for slight negligence.

10. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms, for example when we add a feature or the law changes. The current version is always on this page with its date. If you have a running plan, we tell you about a change that affects you by email at least 30 days before it applies. It applies from your next renewal, and you can cancel before then if you don't agree.

11. Law and disputes

German law applies. If you're a consumer living in another country, the mandatory consumer protections of that country still apply to you. We're not obliged and not willing to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
